Data from disparate sources had to be merged for loading to our warehouse.
Tibco provided Lineage and quick turnaround time to merge the data.
  • Drivers to access multiple data souces
  • Needs a bit of learning curve but Joining different sources
  • Exposing the data as REST API
  • Memory management can be better.
  • In a 2 node cluster, the timekeeper does not share much load. we need to scale it to multiple nodes to take advantage of the cluster.
  • The IDE for TDV Development can improve a lot
Well Suited:
If data needs to be collected from different types
Quick ETL with SQL like coding.
need to Expose processed data in SQL, REST,SOAP with no extra coding.

TIBCO Data Virtualization has created a platform to track manage and provide concise reports throughout the various cycles of the sales process. It is a robust tool that has helped maximize efficiency through its visualization formats. After working with this tool and seeing the benefits I could not see myself without it. I will continue to use TIBCO Data Virtualization for the foreseeable future.
  • Data wrangling
  • Curve fitting
  • Visualizations
  • User interface
  • Customization
  • Filtering
It is well suited in the sales department, but also allows a platform for our customers to successfully leverage their data and communicate collaboratively across their lines of business. It provides high and low level knowledge of data that would not be nearly as insightful without the power of the visualizations that TIBCO Data Virtualization has to offer

TIBCO Data Virtualization is available to all of our organizations. TIBCO Data Virtualization is used by most of our organizations to bring multiple data into one reporting solution. TIBCO Data Virtualization allows us to pull data from many different sources in many different locations and create the reporting requirements that are needed by our various business departments.
  • Use different data repositories in one solution.
  • Use of analytics tools by end users.
  • Use of SQL so users don't have to learn a new scripting language.
  • Unable to find a way to run a scheduled report to be saved to another location.
  • High cost compared to other solutions.
  • Tool is a bit difficult to learn.
If your organization is large, has many different data sources, and has the budget then TIBCO Data Virtualization may be the solution for you. The TIBCO Data Virtualization tool does take some time to learn. If your organization is smaller with a lower budget then there may be a better solution for you. We also need reports automatically generated on a periodic basis and saved to another location (such as our electronic document management system) but we aren't sure if/how this can be accomplished using TIBCO Data Virtualization.

We use TIBCO Data Virtualization in our organization to provide solutions to multiple clients for data virtualization, which provides an abstract layer where we can connect heterogeneous data sources like RDBMS and Non-RDBMS as well as flat files and provide a singular database as a solution. We can make web service as well. Multiple clients have complex data, which is stored on multiple databases. We can make it singular by using data virtualization.
  • Connection multiple database
  • Provide multiple output options like web service and database
  • User management
  • Data handling
  • Community support
  • User-friendly web portal
  • Deployment portal
  • Clustering
  • Customer adaptor support
TIBCO Data Virtualization will be well used in companies that have data stored in a heterogeneous database and have complex data, but the size of data should be medium. For larger data, TIBCO Data Virtualization lags in performance.

TIBCO Data Virtualization will not be useful in the scenario where the company has stored its data in a similar fusion same database data size is large.

We have data coming in from diverse sources. Some of the data come from the operational systems and the rest of it is derived from external sources with whom we have subscriptions for the same. This data is sanitized and transformed into various reports and dashboards which are consumed by customers either in the form of PowerBI/Tableau or are a raw dump of the same. Data virtualization is used by core operational teams only.
  • Security & Governance of the data.
  • Sophisticated/advanced query engines.
  • Data orchestrations.
  • Higher learning curve.
  • Pricing is high.
  • Initial setup is slightly cumbersome.
Some of the great aspects are:
1) Data Integration
2) Unified layer for data related operations
3) Effective and quicker data processing
4) Robust connections to numerous data sources
5) Ability to use the user interface with ease during initial implementation stages
6) Ability to seamlessly and easily integrate this tool with multiple 3rd party applications
7) High performance end-to-end

TIBCO is being used by the analyst team in our organization. Currently, we have data in multiple sources. We are using TIBCO Data Virtualization to connect to all different data sources and queries against the different data sources. We didn't go with the traditional method of data warehousing, because we didn't want to duplicate the data, so we started using TIBCO Data Virtualization to avoid duplication.
  • Reduce duplication of data
  • Easy to use and run queries on different data sources
  • It is versatile but it also makes it quite complex if you haven't already thought it out fully before you start writing the views.
  • Performance is highly dependent on queries used
We started using TIBCO recently. We have multiple data sources that we want to connect and run queries. We are still exploring the tool and learning new things every day. So far I have learned one thing, it is extremely important to plan ahead on how the query is going to be and from where it is going to fetch the data.
